WELCOME to B.P. Guilds in the Hunter and Coastal Region

It is 58 years since the first the Baden Powell Guilds formed (with some name changes). First, in Great Britain then across the world, with Australia having its first Branches of the Guild in 1949. The international badge, seen above, shows members are former Scouts and Guides. Membership also includes Leaders (former and current) and other interested people who want to have an active involvement in conserving, promoting and supporting the Scout and Guide spirit. Members aspire to the ideals of the movements in everyday life.

Although financially and administratively independent, the Guilds work to promote international understanding and have close links to the movements.

Guild members are able to use talents to perform tasks thus allowing Leaders to provide good programming, advance their skills, fulfil further training and complete their responsibilities to achieve the goals of Scouting and Guiding.

In accomplishing these “Good Turns” – so important in lives of all Scouts and Guides – the Guild members are continuing good citizenship within the communities with service for the next generation of Scouts, Guides and Leaders.

The Baden Powell Guilds are able to help at Group, at District and at Regional level

as well as on a personal level for near retiring or retired Scouts, Guides, Leaders and Group Layside to continue their touch with the movements and enjoy fellowship of like minded people.

At Group Level – Guilds can attend to the catering at functions leaving the Group people free to enjoy the event, guest speakers, examiners, etc.

At District and Regional Level – Guilds carry out essential duties for events that are extra for the Leaders and outside their responsibilities for the youth programmes. Eg registration, timekeeping, supply of drinks, temporary assistance to Leaders, etc.
